Video Conversion Process - Streaming Video Provider
Video Conversion Process
After a video file is uploaded by you to Streaming Video Provider website, it is scheduled for conversion and publishing with our network. Videos pending conversion are put in a queue, working in the mode ‘first-in-first-out’.
We are choosing the kind of conversion that will give you the best results. It depends on initial video source format, its parameters, initial quality and size and the target quality and size. The rule is that while encoding, the video quality always degrades, but we’re trying to avoid it as much as possible.
There is another rule - the targeted video bitrate is never bigger than the source one. That would only lead to loss of bandwidth and introduce flickering effects in some formats. That’s why it is our recommendation that the video of the highest quality possible is uploaded for publishing. This leads to achieving the best result after the conversion.
Our video conversion system handles the process semi-automatically at this time but we’re working on a fully automated system to meet certain performance requirements. Currently all video sources are reviewed prior conversion; we do this to decide proper conversion policies and to be sure that the content meets policy of this service.
